-From Soil to Cloth- Cotton Spinning Class Exhibition

April 23 (Sat) and 24 (Sun), 2022

13:00-16:00  Admission free (reservation not required)

at things713 Kamimakidani, Yamazaki-cho, Shiso City, Hyogo Prefecture

This is an exhibition of the works of five students who attended the cotton spinning class once a month from July 2021 to March 2022.

Beginning with cotton seeding, through yarn spinning, dyeing with plants, etc., and finally making the yarn you made yourself into cloth, we are exhibiting works born from a total of nine curriculums.

By adding time and handiwork from the soil of the field and the cotton of the plant, the cloth is finished with a unique texture and gentleness. I thought it would be an opportunity to recapture the process of cotton, which we usually wear casually, from plants to materials and works.

In addition, we will also recruit students for the 2022 "From soil to cloth-Yarn spinning class" from the 23rd.Click here for details

If you have any questions such as "I'm curious, but what is it really like...", I will explain it with the real thing and the work, so please feel free to come and visit us.

Green woodwork is woodwork that cuts trees that grow nearby and uses various hand tools to keep the trees (green) as they are.

Raw wood is soft and can be easily processed by anyone, and unlike conventional woodworking that uses sawn and dried wood, it has been attracting attention in recent years as an eco-friendly and ethical movement. Please enjoy the feeling of carving raw wood.

In the 3rd Atelier Tagata project, we will use cotton harvested from the Tagata field, and experience the flow of cotton ginning → yarn spinning (using a takuri) → weaving. Why don't you enjoy the series of processes in which fiber is born from plants and turned into cloth? The weaving machine used on the day will be a Tagata original that combines brass fittings and wisteria vines. The finished work can be displayed as an object as it is.

The cotton used this time is cultivated in the field field, and we are planning to experience seeding in early May and cotton picking in November. We look forward to your participation as we will inform you on our website and Instagram.
